Following on from the recent success of our special edition vermouths, we’ve chosen to celebrate national vermouth day with a completely unique red wine vermouth.
Forest Vermouth is an invocative, sensory vermouth combining aromas of a winter forest walk.
We’ve combined distillates and infusions of earth, moss, pine, cypress and cedar wood. These aromas are layered on top of the Victory London house style. The base of this vermouth is green coffee, wormwood and rhubarb root.
We’ve chosen red wines from Austria for their earthy, fruity and tanic nature. A blend of Zweigelt and Pinot Noir from two celebrated vineyards. These wines are completely natural and biodynamic.
For the presentation of each bottle we’ve collaborated with Ben Prescott of Ben Prescott Design, London. Ben has hand printed, unique, one off prints to wrap each bottle.
The bottle wraps replace traditional labels making each bottle different and a piece of art in itself. The bottle is wax sealed with a wax twine thus making the packaging plastic free.
Tasting Notes - Max Chater. Head Distiller
“forest vermouth is my example of the natural phenomena, petrichor, The smell of the ground after rain. Initial aroma of this vermouth is of wet earth, hedgerow, blackberry and oak moss. There is a hint of spice, bark and bay. On the pallete, neat, starts with jammy forest fruits, thick red wine and a lasting stimulating bitterness. It is invigorating and finishes with salivating cypress and olive leaf.
How to drink this?
It really is like nothing we’ve made or tasted before. It’s a conversation piece over ice, but It would be beautiful mixed with aged spirits, perhaps in a Manhattan? Or a Vieux Carre without Benedictine? Calvados? And of course a Victory Negroni” ;)
